Basic introduction
Simply speaking, remote I/O is a data acquisition/transmission module with communication function, without its own control and adjustment function. Just send the field data to the control center (such as PLC), or accept the data from the control center to control the field equipment.
There are many communication methods, and each manufacturer has its own standards, such as Freeport communication, PROFIBUS, MODBUS, and so on.
Example: console; console buttons, indicator lights.
In the past, control cables were used to connect with PLC. If remote I/O is used, it can be connected to the PLC through a communication line, which saves wiring and saves the I/O points of the PLC itself

Introduction:
Link-Max analog remote I/O measurement and control module, using the industry-wide Modbus RTU protocol, high performance from ADI Analog-to-digital conversion chip, Japanese NEC photoelectric isolation device, provide users with multi-range, high withstand voltage isolation, long-distance, low drift, wide operating temperature environment, cost-effective, far superior to similar intelligent measurement and control solutions. The Link-Max I-7017 non-isolated Modbus protocol eight-channel current loop remote I/O acquisition module has a total of 8 differential inputs. The module has a 16-bit resolution and a communication rate of up to 115.2K. It is mainly used for Industrial field or other distributed data collection. I-7017 adopts simple and easy-to-operate software calibration, users can easily perform zero and full-scale calibration.
The acquisition module adopts the RS485 communication network, and transmits the analog quantity of scattered field data points to the host computer through AD conversion or the remote main site is controlled by the PC. It has a unique dual watchdog safety design, which consists of a software watchdog and a hardware watchdog. In case of a program flying off the module, it can be restarted instantly. Each acquisition module can be interlocked with the main control computer by a software watchdog. In case the main control computer crashes, all output modules will enter the preset safe state, which meets the safety requirements of the industry.
If the RS485 communication network is faulty or disconnected, the host computer and the module will not be able to interlock and communicate, and the software watchdog will also be activated. The design of the software watchdog is very ingenious and easy to use, which can greatly increase the security of the system.
