The 21st Century Oriental Culture Forum was first initiated and initiated by Mr. Lin Xiangxiong, the founding chairman of the Singapore Yanhuang International Cultural Association. President Lin Xiangxiong is a well-known artist, painter and a successful entrepreneur in Singapore. Since the years of Ershun, the sublimation of his thoughts and art and the accumulation of mining wealth have prompted him to always think hard to do a great thing that he wants to do, is capable and should do. In August 2009, President Lin Xiangxiong, under the encouragement and spur of his colleagues in the domestic cultural circles, formally established the Yanhuang International Cultural Association. In his founding speech, he emphasized: "Only by insisting on the inclusiveness of the world's diverse cultures, while each prospering the existing cultural system, and mutual respect for the multilateralism of the political system formed by the traditions, geography and culture of different ethnic groups, can we achieve success in the world. Only in a harmonious world can there be a day."
In fact, President Lin Xiangxiong has always admired Mr. Ji Xianlin’s cultural theories and thoughts, and the cause of Oriental studies initiated by Mr. Ji Xianlin. As early as when he was planning to organize the Yanhuang International Cultural Association, he began to conceive how to create a fund for the sustainable development of Oriental Studies at Peking University. On February 27, 2014, President Lin came to Peking University in person and brought the "Agreement on the Establishment of Peking University Oriental Studies Innovation and Development Fund" drafted by him.
With the full support of Executive Vice President Wu Zhipan of Peking University and the former Vice President Zhang Guoguo, after more than a month of consultation and improvement, it was finally released on April 9, 2014 by the Institute of Oriental Studies, Peking University, Innovation Fund Co., Ltd. (founded solely by Mr. Lin in Hong Kong) and Peking University Education Foundation formally signed a fund agreement.
During the period, Professor Lin Xiangxiong once again proposed that the Institute of Oriental Studies of Peking University and the Yanhuang International Cultural Association jointly established an international high-end academic forum to provide a platform for world multicultural dialogue and exchanges, while promoting Beijing Development of Oriental Studies in the University. With the encouragement and support of many enthusiastic people, on June 7, 2014, the launching ceremony of the "21st Century Oriental Culture Forum" was held in the new building of the School of Foreign Languages of Peking University.
The "21st Century Oriental Culture Forum" was launched at Peking University
June 7, 2014, organized by Peking University Institute of Oriental Studies, Singapore Yanhuang International The "21st Century Oriental Culture Forum" co-founded by the Cultural Association held a launching ceremony in the new building of the School of Foreign Languages of Peking University. Present at the launching ceremony of the forum were Wu Zhipan, Executive Vice President of Peking University, Lin Xiangxiong, President of Singapore Yanhuang International Cultural Association, Zhang Guoguo, Former Vice President of Peking University, Wang Bangwei, Dean of the Institute of Oriental Studies, and Ning Qi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages. The launching ceremony was presided over by Zhang Yuan, deputy dean of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Peking University.
On April 9, 2014, the Institute of Oriental Studies of Peking University and the Yanhuang International Cultural Association formally signed an agreement on the establishment of the "Peking University Oriental Studies Innovation and Development Fund". Under the proposal of Professor Lin Xiangxiong, the two parties jointly established the "21st Century Oriental Culture Forum", an international high-end academic forum. The forum will highlight the international, academic, realistic and open nature, that is, based on Peking University, facing the East, looking at the world, bringing together famous scholars at home and abroad, and expounding that civilization and culture are promoting the development of human history and social progress with a diverse perspective of civilization and culture. It promotes the development of Oriental studies and strengthens the dialogue and exchanges between China and the various ethnic groups in the East and between different civilizations in the world. After the forum is launched, an international academic seminar will be held every year.
At the launching ceremony, Ning Qi first delivered a speech, and she congratulated the establishment of the forum. Then Wang Bangwei introduced the purpose, origin, characteristics and mission of the forum. Lin Xiangxiong and Professor Lin Yanling, representative of the Australian branch of the Yanhuang International Cultural Association, explained the importance of promoting Eastern culture. On behalf of Peking University, Wu Zhipan and Zhang Guoguo thanked Mr. Lin Xiangxiong for his generous sponsorship and strong support for the construction of the Oriental Studies of Peking University, and raised their ardent hopes for the teachers of the School of Foreign Languages and the Institute of Oriental Studies.
In addition to famous professors and experts such as Yan Shaofang of Peking University, the guests who came to congratulate the forum’s launching Experts and scholars. In addition, Wu Chenguang, the editor-in-chief of Sohu.com, also came to congratulate and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the forum for a long time and work together to promote Chinese and Eastern culture. Also attending the launching ceremony were the heads and teachers of the Departments of Oriental Studies of Peking University School of Foreign Languages.
The first international academic symposium of "21st Century Oriental Culture Forum" opened at Peking University
On the morning of June 6, 2015, organized by Peking University Oriental Studies The first international academic seminar of the "21st Century Oriental Culture Forum" jointly organized by the Academy and the Singapore Yanhuang International Cultural Association opened in the Centennial Lecture Hall of Peking University. The opening ceremony and keynote speech of the seminar were hosted by Professor Zhang Yuan, Vice Dean of the Institute of Oriental Studies, and Professor Wang Bangwei, Dean, respectively.
Li Yansong, vice president of Peking University, delivered a welcome speech. He warmly welcomed the Chinese and foreign guests, experts and scholars attending the meeting, and wished the academic conference a complete success.
Professor Lin Xiangxiong, President of the Yanhuang International Cultural Association and Chairman of the Innovation Fund, Professor Ning Qi, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Peking University, and Mr. Rajas, former Chairman of the European Union Cultural Center Cooperation Organization, delivered speeches successively. Professor Wang Gungwu, a well-known scholar and Chairman of the Council of the East Asian Institute of the National University of Singapore, delivered an opening speech. They highly appreciated and affirmed the academic value of the conference and its historical significance. More than a hundred scholars from universities and scientific research institutions at home and abroad participated in this seminar.
After the opening ceremony, Professor Lou Lie from the Department of Philosophy of Peking University discussed the important core features of Eastern culture with the theme of "Essence of Oriental Culture: Respect for Nature and Conform to Nature"; Professor An Lezhe, University of Hawaii, USA Analyzed the relationship between "the ethical role of Confucianism and the "shaping" of people"; Professor Liu Mengxi of the Chinese Academy of Art's speech entitled "'Harmony without Difference' is the Great Wisdom of Chinese Culture" explained the essence of Chinese culture and revealed China Excellent quality of culture; Professor Yan Shaofang of the Department of Chinese at Peking University extracted the "vitality characteristics of traditional Chinese culture", showing the quality of traditional Chinese culture from another perspective. The wonderful keynote reports of four famous Chinese and foreign scholars aroused the sympathy and high praise of the participating scholars.
The conference will focus on the theme of the revival and prosperity of Eastern culture, discussing the renewed glory of Eastern culture in the 21st century, the core values of Eastern culture, the contribution of Eastern culture to human culture in the 21st century, Western Renaissance and the Chinese Dream , The integration and innovation of Eastern and Western art, Eastern culture and the cultural construction of the "Belt and Road".
Oriental culture has a long history, rich cultural classics and profound ideological accumulation, and has made great contributions to the development of human culture. In the 21st century, with the continuous improvement of the international status of Eastern countries, the significance and value of Eastern culture have been continuously recognized and explored by people. The 21st century will be a century in which Eastern and Western cultures prosper together, and Eastern culture will once again be glorious and play a greater role in the development of human culture. To this end, the Institute of Oriental Studies of Peking University and the Yanhuang International Cultural Association jointly organized the first international academic seminar of the "21st Century Oriental Culture Forum".
During the conference, the conference will also commend and reward faculty and staff who have made outstanding achievements in the construction and scientific research of Oriental Studies at Peking University.
