ThethreeyearsofXuantongintheQingDynasty(1911))OnMarch15th,HangzhouSecondaryCommercialSchoolwasfoundedinHuangcuyuanLane,MashiStreet,Hangzhou.ItwasfundedbygentlemanZhengZaichang.Thelengthofhisstudiesistwoyearsforpreparatorycoursesandthreeyearsforundergraduatecourses.ZhengZaichangservesasthedean.InAugustofthefirstyearoftheRepublicofChina(1912),itwasrenamedasZhejiangPublicSecondaryCommercialSchool.TheschoolsiteisstillinHuangcuyuanLane,MashiStreet,Hangzhou.
InthewinteroftheRepublicofChina2(1913),itwasrenamedasZhejiangProvincialA-ClassCommercialSchool,andtheschoolmottowasformulatedastheschoolmottoof"honesty,perseverance,diligence,andsimplicity".Threeyears.
InMarchofthe3rdyearoftheRepublicofChina(1914),theschoolmovedtoPing’anqiaoinfrontofGongyuan,Hangzhou.(PartoftheschoolbuildingsofZhejiangTwoNormalSchools,nowthesiteofHangzhouSeniorHighSchool).
InAugustofthe12thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1923),itwasrenamedasZhejiangProvincialCommercialSchool,thepreparatorycoursewasabolished,andthefive-yearsystemandthecreditsystemwereimplemented.
Inthespringofthe15thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1926),itwasrenamedasZhejiangProvincialCommercialVocationalSchool.
InJulyofthe16thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1927),itexchangedschoolbuildingswithProvincialNo.1MiddleSchoolandmovedtotheformersiteofZhidaFangboNo.1MiddleSchool.(nowZhejiangMedicalSecondHospital)Hospitalsite),begantorecruitgirls.
Intheautumnof17thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1928),itwasrenamedasZhejiangProvincialHighSchoolofCommerceandmovedtotheoldQiantangRoadYinOfficeinPuchangLane.Theschoolsystemwaschangedtothreeyearsandjuniorhighschoolgraduateswererecruited.
InMayofthe18thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1929),itmergedwiththehighschoolsoftheProvincialNo.1MiddleSchoolandNo.2MiddleSchooltoformtheZhejiangProvincialSeniorHighSchool(Business).
InJuneofthe22ndyearoftheRepublicofChina(1933),itwasrenamedZhejiangHangzhouHighSchool(Business).
InJulyofthe26thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1937),itmovedtoJinhuaSuoyuan;inDecemberofthesameyear,itmovedtoBihuTown,Lishui.
InJuneofthe27thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1938),heparticipatedintheestablishmentofZhejiangTemporaryUnitedMiddleSchool(Business).
InAugustofthe28thyearoftheRepublicofChina(1939),itwasrenamedZhejiangTemporaryUnitedHighSchool(Business).
InMayofthe31styearoftheRepublicofChina(1942),hemovedtoNantianTown,QingtianCounty;inAugustofthesameyear,theZhejiangProvincialDepartmentofEducationdecidedtoremovebusinessfromtheUnitedHighSchoolandsetuptheZhejiangProvincialAdvancedCommercialVocationalSchool.ZhangZhizhenwasappointedastheprincipal;inSeptember,hemovedbacktoBihuTown,LishuiCounty.

Inthesummerof1951,theschoolsitewasmovedtotheoriginalsiteofHangzhouMunicipalMiddleSchoolinWestLakeJinshaPort.
In1952,theSchoolBankingDivisionwasmergedintoZhejiangBankingSchool.
InJanuary1953,theschoolwasrenamedHangzhouCommercialSchoolinZhejiangProvince;intheautumnofthesameyear,businessstudentsfromJinhuaWujiangCommercialVocationalSchoolandYongkangXusVocationalSchoolweremergedintotheschool.
In1961,theschoolopenedaspecializationinfinancialaccountingandbegantotraincollegestudents.
Inthesummerof1963,theschoolmovedtoJiaogongRoadandtheWenerRoadcampusbecameabranch;inJulyofthesameyear,theschoolwasdirectlyledbytheMinistryofCommerceandwasrenamedHangzhouCommercialSchooloftheMinistryofCommerce;October,JinanThecommercialschoolveterinaryhygienemajorwastransferredtotheschool.
Inthesummerof1965,theschoolheadquartersmovedtoWenerRoad,andtheJiaogongRoadcampusbecameabranch.
In1966,afterthestartofthe"CulturalRevolution",theschoolstoppedenrollingstudents.
In1968,theschoolleadershiprelationshipwastransferredtoHangzhou.
InAugust1970,theschoolwasrenamedHangzhouNormalSchool.
In1973,theschoolwasrenamedZhejiangCommercialSchool.
InMay1978,theMinistryofCommerceproposedtoimplementthedualleadershipoftheMinistryofCommerceandZhejiangProvince,withaministry-orientedleadershipsystem.
In1980,withtheapprovaloftheStateCouncil,HangzhouBusinessSchoolwasestablished.
In1998,theschoolwastransferredfromaschoolundertheMinistryofDomesticTradetoaschool-runningmanagementsystemjointlybuiltbythecentralandlocalgovernmentsandfocusedonlocalmanagement.

July1953,SuzhouAdvancedIndustrialTechnologySchoolChemicalIndustryDepartment,ZhejiangHangzhouIndustrialSchoolChemicalEngineeringDepartmentandZhejiangWenzhouAdvancedIndustrialVocationalSchoolMachineryDepartmentandChemicalEngineeringDepartmentmergedtoestablishHangzhouChemicalIndustrySchoolinWenyiRoad,Hangzhou,undertheleadershipoftheMinistryofHeavyIndustry.
In1956,itwaschangedtotheleadershipoftheMinistryofChemicalIndustry.
InJune1958,undertheleadershipofthePeople'sGovernmentofZhejiangProvince,theuniversityaddedspecialcoursesandwasupgradedtoZhejiangChemicalEngineeringCollege.
InFebruary1960,basedontheschool,theZhejiangInstituteofChemicalTechnologywasestablished,whileretainingthetechnicalsecondaryschoolpart;inAugustofthesameyear,itwasrenamedWuxijiangInstituteofChemicalTechnology,andthesecondarytechnicalsecondaryschoolbranchwasrenamedWuxijiangChemicalIndustryHangzhoubranchofthecollege.
In1961,theHangzhoubranchwaschangedtotheleadershipoftheZhejiangProvincialDepartmentofChemicalIndustry;inAprilofthesameyear,theWenzhouChemicalSchoolwasmergedintotheHangzhoubranch.
InAugust1962,theHangzhoubranchofWuxijiangInstituteofChemicalTechnologywasabolishedandtheestablishmentofHangzhouChemicalIndustrySchoolwasrestored.
In1963,WuxijiangInstituteofChemicalTechnologywasrenamedZhejiangInstituteofChemicalTechnology;inOctoberofthesameyear,HangzhouChemicalIndustrySchoolwasundertheleadershipoftheMinistryofChemicalIndustry.
InAugust1965,itwasplacedunderthemanagementofZhejiangProvincebytheMinistryofChemicalIndustry.
In1966,afterthestartofthe"CulturalRevolution",HangzhouChemicalIndustrySchoolstoppedenrollingstudents.

InMay1999,HangzhouSchoolofAppliedEngineeringandHangzhouSchoolofChemicalIndustryweremergedintotheschool;InSeptemberofthesameyear,theSchoolofInternationalEconomicsandTradeofHangzhouUniversityofCommerce(nowHangzhouBusinessSchoolofZhejiangGongshangUniversity,afull-timeundergraduateindependentcollegereconfirmedbytheMinistryofEducationin2004)wasestablished.
