Awireisaseriesofmeasurementcontrolpointsconnectedinadjacentordertoformaplanecontrolgraphicintheformofabrokenline.Itconsistsofaseriesofwireelements:wirepoint,whichistheknownandpendingpointsonthewire;wireedge,istheedgeofthebrokenlineconnectingthewirepoint;wireangle,thehorizontalanglebetweentheguidelineedges.Theangleofthewireconnectedtotheknowndirectioniscalledtheconnectionangle(alsoknownastheorientationangle).Thewireangleiscalledtheleftcornerortherightcornerrespectivelyaccordingtoitspositionontheleftorrightsideofthewire'sadvancingdirection,andstipulatesthattheleftcornerispositiveandtherightcornerisnegative;thedifferencebetweenasinglewireandawirenetisthattheformerhasnonodes,andthelatterHasanode.Asinglewirecanbelaidoutas:attachedwire,startingataknownpointandendingatanotherknownpoint;closedwire,startingandclosingatthesameknownpoint;branchwire,startingfromaknownpoint,bothItisnotattachedtoanotherknownpoint,norisitclosedtothesameknownpoint.Thewiremeshcanbesetas:attachedwiremesh,withmorethanoneknownpointorotherattachmentconditions;freewiremesh,withonlyoneknownpointandonestartingazimuthangleinthemeshwithoutattachmentconditions.
