Literary Achievements
In 1991, Wanma Caidan studied at Northwest University for Nationalities; in the same year, he began to publish literary works.
In 1995, he worked in the government of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province. In 1997, he wrote the novel Temptation, which won the second prize of the Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture's first literary creation appraisal.
In 1999, he wrote the novel "Gang", which won the Outstanding Work Award in the 4th Literary Creation Award of Qinghai Province, the first prize of the five provinces and regions Tibetan radio novel appraisal, and the 5th Contemporary Chinese Minority Literature Creation Rookie award.
In 2001, he wrote the novel "Beggar", which won the Excellent Works Award of the Tibet Autonomous Region National Literary Works Exhibition.

Performing experience
In 2002, Wanma Caidan started film director work, and directed his first short film "Quiet Mani Stone", which won the 4th University Student Film Festival The short film competition unit, the professional group, the outstanding film category, the first "Golden Character Award" of the Beijing Film Academy, the outstanding film award.
In 2004, he wrote and directed the 35mm color short film "Prairie", which won the Best Short Film Award for Chinese Students in the 3rd Beijing Film Academy International Student Film and Television Works Exhibition. In 2005, he wrote and directed his first feature film "The Quiet Mani Stone". The film was co-starred by Quesai, Lobsang Danpai, and Ju Huan Cang Living Buddha, and won the 24th edition. The "Dragon and Tiger" Special Nomination Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival in Canada, Wanma Caidan won the Best Director Award at the 9th Shanghai International Film Festival Asian Newcomer Award for this film.
In 2007, filming a 94-minute documentary "Gatuo Dafa Conference". In the same year, he directed the 60-minute documentary "Samye Temple", a series of Chinese eminent monks. In addition, he also directed the feature film "Looking for Chi Mei Geng Deng" co-starred by Zong Zhi and Man Raj. The film was shot on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters and more than 20 degrees below zero. It won the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival. In 2008, directed the documentary "Snow in Bayan Har". In 2010, directed the documentary "The Thousand-Year Bodhi Road", which is based on the rise and fall of temples, the fate of the characters, and the inheritance of different Buddhist sects.
In 2011, directed the feature film "Old Dog" co-starred by Roger and Zhuomajia. The film won the best picture of the Brooklyn Film Festival and the best work of the 12th Tokyo Future International Film Festival prize.
In 2014, directed the feature film "Colorful Arrows" with the traditional archery competition in the Tibetan area of Amdo as the background. The film was the opening film of the 8th FIRST Youth Film Festival, depicting a Tibetan A picture scroll of folklore, Wanma Caidan was nominated for the 6th China Film Directors Association's Screenwriter Award for this film.
In 2015, filmed the feature film "Taluo", which was co-starred by Sidney Ma and Yang Xiucuo and adapted the novel of the same name. The film won the Horizon Competition Unit of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival-Golden Lion Award nomination, Wanma Caidan was nominated for the Best Director Award at the 52nd Taiwan Film Golden Horse Awards for this film.
In 2016, he produced the feature film "Knife in the Clear Water" directed by Wang Xuebo, which won the New Wave Award at the 21st Pusan International Film Festival.
In September 2019, the film "Bumped and Killed a Sheep" won the Best Picture Award in the Feature Film Unit of the 3rd Litchi International Film Festival.

Character dispute
At 20:15 on June 25, 2016, Wanma Caidan took flight CZ6269 from Beijing to Xining to Xining.
