Itwasnamed"U.S.News"whenitwasfoundedin1933,andmergedwith"WorldReport"in1948.TheeditorialofficeislocatedinWashington,DCandheadquarteredinNewYorkCity.ThefounderisD.Lawrence,originallyownedbytheUSNewsandWorldReportPublishingCompany,andwasownedbyBostonrealestateandpublisherM.Mickmanin1984.Thepublicationisdifferentfrom"Time"Weeklyand"Newsweek"in1948from"UnitedStatesNews"(TheUnitedStatesNews),"WorldReport"(TheWorldReport)and(TheUSWeekly)ofthethreemagazinesmergedandpublishedinWashington.Originallyownedby"USNewsandWorldReport,"itwasownedbyBostonrealestatedeveloperandpublisherMortimerZuckerman(MortimerZuckerman)in1984,withacirculationofabout2.5millioncopies.
