Whentheoscillatingcircuitisinanon-idealstateandthereisresistance,theresistanceheatsupandbecomesadampedoscillation;Whenthereisanexternalperiodicelectromotiveforceintheoscillationcircuit,itwillbecomeaforcedoscillation;whenthefrequencyoftheexternalelectromotiveforceisthesameasthenaturalfrequencyωofthefreeoscillationofthecircuit,theamplitudereachesthemaximumvalue,whichiscalledelectromagneticresonance.

Whenthesystemisexcitedbytheoutsideandisforcedtovibrate,ifthefrequencyoftheexternalexcitationisclosetothesystemfrequency,theamplitudeoftheforcedvibrationmayreachaverylargevalue.Thisphenomenoniscalledresonance.Asystemhascountlessnaturalfrequencies,andweoftenstudylow-rangesystemfrequencies.
