Maryland University Confucius Institute is the first Confucius Institute in North America. Signed an agreement on 17 November 2004, the cooperation between Maryland and Tianjin Nankai University. The hospital has based on the campus, facing the society, opening a variety of Chinese and Chinese cultural courses for the Dahuafu area, train Chinese teachers, and organizes a variety of cultural activities to promote Chinese traditional culture in the region. Enhance the mutual understanding between China and the United States, making it a place to conduct people from all walks of life to carry out China and American cultural exchanges.
In 2009, the hospital organized nearly 30 Chinese cultural lectures, seminars, performances and other activities and HSK Chinese level exams, and cooperated to establish five Confucius classrooms and teachers' qualifications and development. The center has attracted attention from all walks of life, and now it has become an important Chinese language culture spread in Dahuafu region.
