Creative Background
After listening to the melody composed by John Deacon and Roger Taylor, Brian May and the band’s lead singer Freddie Mercury jointly decided the The theme of the song and composed part of the lyrics. When the song "The Show Must Go On" was recorded in 1990, Freddy was already very sick. Band member Brian May once worried that he could not complete the recording, especially the high-pitched chorus part.
But on the day of the recording, Freddy looked very relaxed. Holding a glass of vodka in his hand, he said to Brian, "I will do it, dear" (I'll f**king do it, darling), turned around and walked into the recording studio, and completed the recording accurately.

Empty spaces what are we living for Abandoned places I guess we know the score, On and on does anybody know what we are looking for Another hero another mindless crime Behind the curtain in the pantomime Hold the line does anybody want to take it anymore The show must go on The show must go on Inside my heart is breaking My make up may be flaking But my smile still stays on Whatever happens I'll leave it all to chance Another heartache another failed romance On and on does anybody know what we are living for I guess I'm learning I must be warmer now I'll soon be turning round the corner now Outside the dawn is breaking But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free The show must go on The show must go on Inside my heart is breaking My make up may be flaking But my smile still stays on My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies Fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die I can fly my friends The show must go on The show must go on< /p> I'll face it with a grin I'm never giving in On with the show I'll top the bill I'll overkill I have to find the will to carry on On with the show The show must go on | No man’s land, why do we live Abandoned place, I think we know The truth, time and time again Does anyone know what we are looking for Another hero, another ignorant sin A pantomime performed behind the scenes >Continue the performance Who wants to continue The performance must continue It must be performed My heart is breaking< /p> My makeup is peeling off But my smile is still No matter what happens, it will be decided by fate Heartache again , The romance of failing again, again and again Does anyone know why we live I think I’m studying by then it will be more than now Warm I will soon encounter an opportunity at the corner Outside the dawn has begun to break. In the darkness I came out painfully < p>The show must continueMust go My heart is breaking My makeup is starting to peel off But my smile is still In My soul is as gorgeous as butterfly wings Yesterday’s caterpillar, today’s undead butterfly I fly up, friends Ah The show must continue It must be done face it with a grin Never give up Continue the wonderful performance Become the leading actor Invincible Find the determination to continue Together with the performance Go on |
Song Appreciation
Although "The Show Must Go On" is not the last recorded by Freddie Mercure The song is a true portrayal of his heart when he is approaching the end of his life. He never complains about others, let alone begs for mercy, but always leaves the best state to the audience and the people around him. Through this song, Freddy unreservedly vented his infinite desire for the stage and life, full of unyielding determination to fight and mixed with unconcealed sorrow and helplessness.
