March 22, 2002, the Emperor Wen's Constitutional Council passed and enacted the Constitution of the East Timor Democratic Republic, stipulates that the Democratic Republic of East Timor is the sovereign, independent, unified democracy rule of law. Country, National Assembly, Government and Courts are national authorities. The President is the highest commander of the head of state and armed forces, which is directly elected by the whole people. It is five years, and can be re-elected.
Current President
Francisco Guterres Lu-olo. September 1954 was born in East Timor Vivik region. After graduating from high school, he served as a secondary school counseler. In 1974, he joined the anti-Indonesian armed struggle, and the East Timor's independent revolutionary front year was joined. In 1976, he served as Deputy Secretary in East Timor. Deputy Secretary of the Leading Committee of the Leather Armed Force. In 2001, he was elected as Chairman at the first national party conference in the country, and the conclusion of the Constitutional Constitution will be selected. After the independence of East Timor in 2002, he transferred to the leader of the first Congress and served as 2007. 2007 and 2012 participated in the Presidential Elective Resurrection.
