ThelastpoetduringtheprosperityofPersianliteraturewasJamie(1414~1492).HeisaSufistscholarandhaswrittenbiographiesof616Sufists.HewascloselyrelatedtotheTimuriddynasty,whichwasthecapitalofHerat.Jamie’smainworkis"SevenVolumesofPoems"(alsoknownas"SevenThrones"),4volumesontheologyand3volumesofnarrativepoems.Amongthem,"YusufandZoreha",whichistakenfromthe"Quran"story,isthemostfamous.HisnarrativepoemsimitateNezami,andtheprosebook"SpringGarden"imitatesSadie's"RoseGarden".

Civilization

In651AD,ArabMuslimforcesconqueredthePersianEmpireandcompletelyoccupiedtheterritoryofthePersianEmpireinjusttenyears.ThisnewIslamicKingdomiscalledIran.However,thishotlandseemedtoneverbeabletoachievepeace,andinthefollowinghundredsofyears,newaggressorscontinuedtoappear.ThefirstistheSeljukturkmens(Seljukturkmens)whoconqueredthewholeterritoryofPersia.WhatfollowedwastheterrifyingMongollegion,andthentheTurkmen(Turkmens).

Amongthedaysoftheyear,whattheycelebratemostiseveryone’sbirthday.Theybelievethatthemealeatenonthisdayshouldbemoreabundantthanonotherdays.ThericherPersiansgrilledwholecows,horses,camelsordonkeysinthestoveforfood,whilethepoorerpeoplereplacedthemwithsmallerlivestock.Theydon’thavemanymaindishes,butafterthemaindishestherearemanydimsumsandthelike,andthiskindofdimsumisnotservedallatonce.Theylikewineverymuchandhavealotofalcohol.Inaddition,theyusuallytalkaboutthemostimportanteventswhentheyaredrinking.Andwhentheyweresoberthenextday,theownerofthehousewheretheyweremeetingputforwardthedecisionmadethepreviousnightinfrontofthem;ifthedecisionwasstillagreed,theywouldadoptit;iftheydisagreed,Justputthisdecisionaside.Butwhattheytalkedaboutwhentheyweresoberwasalwaysreconsideredwhentheyweredrunk.

Therearemanyheirs,andintheireyesitisthegreatestvirtueofmensecondonlytobravery.Everyyearthekinggavegiftstothemanwiththemostheirs.Becausetheythinkthatmorepeoplearepower.Theirsonwaseducatedbetweentheagesoffiveandtwenty,andtheytaughttheirsononlythreethings:horseriding,archeryandtellingthetruth.Thechildcannotseehisfatherbeforetheageoffive,buthastolivewithhismother.Thereasonforthisisthatoncethechildcannotberaised,thefatherwillnotsufferthepainofthedeadson.

Intermsoftheruleoflaw,thekingcannotputsomeonetodeathbecausehemadeonlyonemistake,andnoPersiancanuseanincurablepenaltytopunishhisservant’sonlysin.Butifaftercalculatingitandseeingthattheoffender’sfaultsaremoreandgreaterthanthegoodthingshehasdone,theownercanpunishhimseverelytoventhisanger.
